Welcome to The Oakes Folks – a place for viewing genealogy information for the Oakes family of O. P. Oakes and Fidelia Oakes.

The site is arranged into sections as follows:

A Documents section which contains scans of various pages, starting with the Kin Book, that were given to me by my mother Virginia Dykstal and others of my family. Many thanks are due to her and my Aunt Charlotte Tamsen. They have been the primary genealogists in the family, taking the lead from my grandmother Fidelia Oakes.
A People section which contains summaries of the folks mentioned in documents and other sources. This is constantly being updated. I hope to include dates, locations, for significant events such as births, deaths, and marriages.
A Charts section that should contain some genealogy charts and graphs. Pretty sparse at the moment. Some hand drawn charts will be in with the documents.
Lastly there is a section on musings, mutterings, and questions that come up while reading the various bits found here and elsewhere.
